Leaving Bitnami?

The marketplace-native alternative for teams leaving Bitnami

Broadcom moved Bitnami's free catalog behind a paid subscription, froze the legacy images in an unmaintained archive, and has since removed Bitnami content from AWS entirely. If you relied on Bitnami's application images, you now have a decision to make. We publish hardened, continuously maintained images for many of the same applications — deployed in your own cloud account, billed by your cloud provider, with no subscription to rug-pull.

What happened

The Bitnami catalog timeline

DateEvent
July 2025Broadcom announces Bitnami Secure Images, a paid subscription; free-catalog changes take effect August 28, 2025.
September 29, 2025Legacy free images move to a frozen "bitnamilegacy" archive — no further updates or CVE patches.
June 10, 2026Bitnami content is removed from AWS: ECR Public repositories, AWS Marketplace listings, and AMIs.
November 19, 2026Amazon Lightsail retires its WordPress, WordPress Multisite, LAMP, Nginx, and Node.js Bitnami blueprints.
May 19, 2027Remaining Lightsail Bitnami blueprints retire.
Frozen archives keep aging: images stop receiving security patches the day they freeze, and archived tags have been observed disappearing without notice (bitnami/charts #36229). Every restart or scale-out event that pulls a deleted tag becomes an outage.

Your options

The migration decision, honestly laid out

Option 1

Free hardened containers

Docker Hardened Images and similar free catalogs are excellent — for containers. They offer no application-level VM images, their charts use new values schemas (existing Bitnami values files don't carry over), and marketplace purchasing is contract-based rather than self-serve pay-as-you-go. If you run containers only and have time to rewire, start there.

Option 2

Kubernetes operators

CloudNativePG, Strimzi, and friends are the strongest long-term pattern for mature Kubernetes teams — at the cost of a real migration project per application.

Option 3

Marketplace-native hardened images

Our catalog: the applications most teams ran on Bitnami, as hardened VM images and Kubernetes apps — CIS-aligned, rebuilt monthly against current advisories, zero default credentials — purchased through the marketplace your cloud bill already lives on.
